A hot dipped galvanized welded wire mesh roll (HDG mesh roll) is a continuous roll of low-carbon steel wire mesh, welded at every intersection and then fully immersed in molten zinc at approximately 450°C after welding. The critical point is the sequence: galvanizing happens after welding, not before. This means every weld joint — the point most vulnerable to corrosion in any welded mesh product — is sealed under a continuous zinc layer, not left exposed as it is in pre-galvanized (GAW) alternatives. The result is a roll with zinc coating weights from 40 g/m² for sheltered use up to 300 g/m² for permanent outdoor, coastal, or agricultural installations, and a service life that pre-galvanized mesh cannot match in comparable conditions.
Yangze operates dedicated hot-dip galvanizing lines alongside resistance welding production in Anping, Hebei. Every roll is welded first, then fully immersed in molten zinc — the GBW sequence that ensures weld joints are sealed, not exposed. We supply fencing contractors, agricultural distributors, and construction importers in over 30 countries with consistent zinc coating weight, accurate roll dimensions, and full mill documentation on every shipment.

All rolls galvanized after welding (GBW). Select an opening size as a starting point — wire diameter, roll width, roll length, and zinc coating weight are all configurable at order.
Tightest opening in our standard HDG roll range. The 6 mm opening prevents entry by chicks, mice, and similar small animals — choose this when containment is the priority over airflow. Because finer wire requires closer attention to zinc adhesion, coating weight is verified per batch. Not suited to applications with significant lateral load; step up to 25×25 mm with heavier wire for structural use.
One of our most consistently ordered HDG roll sizes for poultry operations. The 12 mm opening blocks predator access while maintaining airflow — the hot-dip zinc coating handles the damp, ammonia-heavy environment of enclosed sheds far better than electro-galvanized alternatives. If you need containment for chicks or mice specifically, 6×6 mm is the right choice; for larger livestock, 25×25 mm with heavier wire is more cost-effective per metre.
Standard 1-inch opening — the most widely specified HDG roll for perimeter fencing, construction site barriers, and concrete formwork backing. Available in three wire diameters: 1.6 mm for light-duty partitions, 2.5 mm for general construction, and 4.0 mm where impact resistance or heavier loads are expected. All three carry the same GBW process; heavier gauges are paired with higher zinc coating weights as standard.
Preferred for cattle yards, temporary site hoarding, and tree guards where material cost per metre matters. The 50 mm opening reduces steel weight without compromising the structural frame when posts are correctly spaced. Available in 2.5 mm wire for lighter livestock use and 4.0–5.0 mm for permanent cattle or industrial perimeter installations. Not suitable for small animal containment — use 12×12 mm or 25×25 mm for that.
Heavy-wire roll for industrial perimeter security, gabion basket facing, and site hoarding where post-to-post spans exceed 2 m and the mesh must carry its own weight without sagging. Wire diameters of 4.0–6.0 mm are standard for this opening; zinc coating of 150–250 g/m² is recommended for permanent outdoor installations. Step up to 100×100 mm if concrete reinforcement is the primary application.
For applications where different horizontal and vertical spacing is needed — common in EIFS backing, floor heating reinforcement, shelving systems, and directional structural rolls. Standard rectangular configurations include 50×25 mm, 75×25 mm, and 100×50 mm; any opening ratio can be produced to your drawing. The asymmetric opening provides directional stiffness — stronger along the short axis — which is useful for rolls installed under load in one primary direction.
The six configurations above represent our most commonly ordered HDG roll types. If your project requires a different opening size, wire gauge, roll dimension, or zinc coating weight, send us your specification and we will confirm feasibility and pricing within 24 hours.
All rolls galvanized after welding (GBW). Standard roll lengths: 15 m, 30 m, 50 m. Wire diameter in mm; opening size in both inch and mm for reference.
Zinc coating selection guide: For indoor or permanently sheltered use, 40–80 g/m² is adequate. For standard outdoor fencing in temperate climates, 100–150 g/m² is typical. For exposed agricultural, construction, or coastal use, 150–250 g/m². For permanent infrastructure or chemical environments, specify 250–300 g/m². If you describe your installation environment, we will recommend the minimum coating needed — over-specifying zinc adds cost without proportional benefit.

Opening size, wire diameter, roll width, roll length, and zinc coating weight can all be specified independently. Send your project requirements for a factory-direct quotation within 24 hours.
HDG after welding (GBW) means the completed mesh roll is immersed in molten zinc after all welds are formed. Every weld joint is sealed under the zinc layer. Pre-galvanized (GAW) uses zinc-coated wire before welding, but the welding process burns through the zinc at each junction, leaving exposed steel at every intersection. For outdoor, agricultural, or high-humidity applications, GBW rolls last significantly longer because the weld points — the highest corrosion risk — are fully protected. Yangze produces all HDG rolls using the GBW process as standard.
Service life depends primarily on zinc coating weight and exposure conditions. In a temperate inland environment, a roll with 120 g/m² zinc coating typically lasts 15–25 years before the zinc layer is depleted to the point of requiring maintenance. In coastal or agricultural environments with higher humidity, salt, or ammonia exposure, 200–250 g/m² coating extends service life to a comparable period. The hot-dip process produces a zinc-iron alloy layer bonded to the steel, which is more durable than electroplated zinc coatings of equivalent weight on the same exposure conditions.
As a working guide: 40–80 g/m² for indoor or permanently sheltered use; 100–150 g/m² for standard outdoor fencing in temperate climates; 150–200 g/m² for exposed agricultural or construction installations; 200–300 g/m² for coastal environments, intensive livestock operations, or permanent infrastructure. If you describe your installation location, expected service life, and the type of exposure (humidity, salt, fertiliser, chemicals), Yangze's team will recommend the minimum coating weight needed — over-specifying zinc increases roll weight and cost without proportional benefit.
For first-time orders, we accept trial quantities from one FCL (approximately 18–22 tonnes depending on roll weight and configuration). Sample rolls in your specified opening, wire diameter, and zinc coating can be produced and shipped by courier before you commit to full production — sample cost is credited against the first production order. For established buyers on regular procurement cycles, we support blanket order arrangements with monthly scheduled shipments.
Yes. Standard roll widths run from 0.3 m to 2.4 m and standard roll lengths are 15 m, 30 m, and 50 m, but we produce to any dimension you specify. Mesh openings, wire diameters, and roll edge finish (cut flush, folded, or selvedge wire) are all configurable. We regularly produce rolls to EN, ASTM, and project-specific standards for buyers across Europe, Australia, and North America. Send your specification sheet or project drawing and we will confirm feasibility and lead time within 24 hours.
Every shipment is accompanied by a mill certificate recording wire diameter, mesh opening, roll dimensions, and zinc coating weight; a Certificate of Analysis (COA); full packing list; and pre-shipment photographs of the loaded container. Third-party inspection by SGS, Bureau Veritas (BV), or Intertek can be arranged at the factory prior to container sealing at the buyer's request. We do not ship without confirmed inspection sign-off when third-party inspection has been specified in the purchase order.
